Campus Safety

School safety is a priority for all schools in the AFUHSD. Each school site has a designated administrator who oversees school safety to include items such as; emergency action plans, drills, and safe schools alerts. The Director of Student Services ensures that schools are consistent with protocols, emergency planning, and follow through.
Student ID's:
Students are required to wear their student ID’s at all times. This is for their safety in an emergency situation. ID’s are also required when arriving and before boarding the bus to be shown both during morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off.
Weapons Detectors:
All students and visitors are required to pass through weapons detectors upon arriving on campus during the school day and at some athletic events and other after school activities. This safety measure helps detect firearms and other heavy metal objects. Students are required to remove their Chromebooks from their backpacks prior to walking through the detectors.
Visitor Policy:
All visitors are required to sign-in and at each school site and district office. ID’s must be presented when signing in. Visitors will be given a visitor pass prior to being allowed on campus.
School Resource Officers (SRO):
School Resource Officers (SROs) are sworn law enforcement officers assigned to our campus to enhance safety and security, while also fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and the community. They contribute to the overall safety and security of the school by patrolling, implementing secure campus practices, and coordinating with school administrators.
Emergency Response:
The AFUHSD in partnership with local law enforcement utilize the i love u guys Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The i love u guys SRP is a nationally recognized protocol that is simple for staff and students. Feeder districts also use the SRP, which allows for continuity when students transition to high school. Drills are conducted throughout the school year and schools are required to conduct one drill out of classroom time (lunch, passing periods.)
