The class of 2022 on the first day of school in Canyon View history.
Canyon View High School was opened on August 6, 2018 with only a freshman class. Since that time, we have grown into one of the premier academic and athletic high schools in the state of Arizona. Below is a look back at some of the top moments in our school's history.
Through The Years
2018-2019
- August 6, 2018 - Canyon View High School welcomed the class of 2022 on the first day of school!

August 25, 2018 - First Spirit Week, Pep Rally, Football Game, and first touch down by Daniel Cordova.

September 19, 2018 - The Jaguar football team picks up their first victory in program history. A 40-12 win over Liberty.
- October 18, 2018 - First home football win! First crowning of Royalty! First storming of the field.

December 14, 2018 - The Jaguar Pride Band led by Mr. George completes their first concert in school history.
- February 7, 2019 - The Unified Sports team brought home their first GOLD medal in basketball.
- February 22, 2019 - The Jaguar baseball team wins 6-4 and Jason Espindola scores the first run in school history.
- May 6, 2019 - Canyon View hosts the first Poetry Slam in school history.
- May 16, 2019 - The first ever Jaguar Award were held to honor outstanding student achievement in the areas of academics and character.

2019-2020
- August 5, 2019 - We kicked off the second year in school history by welcoming the class of 2023.
September 27, 2019 - Our students and staff showed their pride and spirit in our first ever Forthcoming Week. The JVA football team beat Wickenburg 48-0 and our very first Duke and Duchess of CVHS were crowned, which was followed by our "Out of this World" dance. - October 5, 2019 - CVHS wins the James MacConnell Award for curiosity, creativity, and imagination in education!
- November 27, 2019 - Our Unified Sports team earned the first banner for the school: National Unified Champion School!
- March 17, 2020 - CVHS faculty and staff begin preparing to teach virtually due to the Covid pandemic.

March 30, 2020 - The AIA officially cancelled all spring sports due to the spread of Covid-19.
- May 22, 2020 - The 2019-20 school year comes to a close with students and staff still in virtual learning due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.
2020-2021
- August 3, 2020 - The class of 2024 begins the school year virtually on the first day of the new school year.
- August 17, 2020 - The very first members and officers of the Canyon View High School National Honor Society are inducted during a virtual ceremony!
- October 9, 2020 - The varsity football team picked up their first program win, a 17-12 victory over the Maricopa Rams!
- October 11, 2020 - Canyon View students and staff return to campus for the first day of in-person learning. The campus was split between Jags Black and Jags Blue, with the remaining students staying online to continue virtual learning.
- January 5, 2021 - Beloved teacher, coach and advisor, Ms. Erin Seidner passed away. It was a big loss to our school community.
- March 3, 2021 - Governor Doug Ducey announces that students and schools will return to in-person learning after much back and forth the over the past year.
- May 3, 2021 - Maddie Monroy and Kambra Roles top Catalina Foothills in the Division II Girls Tennis Tournament to claim the first state title in school history.
2021-2022
- August 2, 2021 - The new school year begins in person for the class of 2025.
- October 1, 2021 - Founding principal Mr. Phillip Nowlin announces he is taking a job at the district office. Assistant Principal, Ms. Lyn Reid is named Interim Principal.
- November 10, 2021 - School hosts first ever National Signing Day event as eight athletes sign to continue their careers at the collegiate level.
- February 2, 2022 - Ms. Lyn Reid is officially selected as the second principal of Canyon View High School.
- February 22, 2022 - Skyler Hickman and Gabe Ramirez won individual titles at the Division II State Wrestling Championship.

May 17, 2022 - The Canyon View baseball team received the AIA Sportsmanship Award during a game at Diablo Stadium for exhibiting the highest level of sportsmanship throughout the 5A conference.
- May 21, 2022 - Canyon View celebrates the class of 2022 in the first ever graduation ceremony. The event was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
2022-2023
- August 8, 2022 - School begins as the class of 2026 steps onto campus for the first time as members of Canyon View High School.
- October 25, 2022 - Seniors pull away from the juniors in the closing minutes to in the first ever Powder Puff football game in school history.
- October 28, 2022 - Canyon View welcomes back the first graduating class in the first Homecoming game in school history.

February 23, 2023 - Skyler Hickman and Gabe Ramirez won their second consecutive Division II State Wrestling Championships.
- April 3, 2023 - The Jags Theatre program was named a Premiere Community for Theatre Education by the Educational Theatre Association, becoming the only school in Arizona to apply and receive this distinction.

May 2, 2023 - Zaria McGinty won the first ever individual singles tennis State Championship in school history.

May 9, 2023 - Santino Varvel on the 300 meter hurdles at the Division II Track & Field Championships, capturing the first individual track trophy in school history.
- May 20, 2023 - The class of 2023 became just the second graduating class in school history at a ceremony held at State Farm Stadium.
- July 10, 2023 - Jayda Saenz wins the National Championship in Graphic Design at the FBLA National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Caden Lipsky was a finalist in Mobile App Development.
2023-2024
- August 7, 2023 - The 2023-24 school year gets underway as the class of 2027 arrives on campus.
- August 9, 2023 - Senior Trinson Cameron was selected to serve on the 2023-24 Governor's Youth Council becoming the first Jaguar to earn this honor.
- October 5, 2023 - Canyon View hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of our newest building...the X Fort.
- February 10, 2024 - Senior Hannah Mack was named the first ever recipient of the Goodyear Youth of the Year Award. Hannah was recognized for her work in and out of the classroom.
- February 18, 2024 - The Canyon View wrestling team captured the first team state title in school history.
- March 2, 2024 - The Jaguar girls basketball team captured the first state title in program history by winning the 5A State Championship over Sunrise Mountain in overtime.
- April 11, 2024 - Canyon View's AIA Spirit video was named the Big Schools School Spirit Video Award winner.
- May 5, 2024 - The girls track & field team captured our third team state title of the year in dramatic fashion. Annaleise Taylor, Kaleel Galloway and the girls 4x400 meter relay team all won state titles.
- May 18, 2024 - The class of 2024 closes out their time at Canyon View in a graduation ceremony at State Farm Stadium.
- June 25, 2024 - Annaleise Taylor was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Arizona Girls Track & Field Player of the Year.
2024-2025
- August 5, 2024 - We welcomed over 500 new freshman to the Jaguar family and kicked off our brand new Academy Model with the new Freshman Experience pathway.
- November 25, 2024 - The Jaguar flag football team wins the 5A State Championship.
- January 15, 2025 - Coach Joey Ortiz was named the AZ Wrestling Coach of the Year!
- February 7, 2025 - Sebastian Balderas was selected as the 2025 Arizona Association of Student Councils State President. Sebastian is the first student in the entire district to receive this honor.
- February 23, 2025 - The Canyon View boys wrestling team captured their second consecutive DII State Championship. Six boys captured individual state titles, including senior Gabe Ramirez who won his fourth consecutive championship.
- March 7, 2025 - The Lady Jags girls basketball team won their second consecutive 5A State Championship in a win over Kellis High School.
- May 10, 2025 - The girls track & field team won their second straight Division II State Championship.
- May 12, 2025 - The class of 2025 was officially welcomed into the Jaguar alumni family with a ceremony at Desert Diamond Arena.

May 31, 2025 - Canyon View High School was awarded the H.A. Hendrickson Award for the 2024-25 season, recognizing it as the state’s top overall athletic program in the 5A conference.
- June 4, 2025 - Senior pitcher Landon Hood was named AZ Gatorade Player of the Year.
